Settled in New Zealand, it is very near to the North Island coast. To the north is the Auckland, whereas to the northeast is the Warkworth and to the west is Little Barrier Island.
It was the Maori community that first landed on this land in round about fourteenth century and thus, were known as the’ people of the land’. The wealthy marine lives have made it popular for scuba diving and snorkel.
The island is well designed for foreigners and the basic facilities are provided very well. Like the washroom and the changing are is located in the top of car park zone. But certain basic thing like food and water are not available at the marine reserve. There are no stalls or counter for food and water. You need to get the required stuff from your home and the left over should also be carried to home as there are no dustbins or rubbish bins.
One more alternative to the foreigners who are not resident and cannot carry food from home may halt at Leigh Township to buy products.
It was 1975, when Goat Island Marine Reservoir was officially opened for public. It is also the research place and hence many schools makes trip to the marine reservoir. Goat Island Marine Reservoir is just one km hour far from north of Auckland CBD. But there is no bus transportation available. You may find many accommodation and food centers at the Leigh town which ranges from reasonable rates.
This marine reservoir is very much beneficial as educational programs and hence Goat Island has organized many education plans. The snorkel pan that is scheduled for school kids is specially crafted to establish a optimistic effect of Marine reserves on the youth. It is the only education that can will help the environment improvise and if the coming youth is giving a proper education on preserving marine life, it will definitely make an amazing help to the environment.
