A Park that captured a vast number of Christmas Island in southwest Indonesia is actually a territory of Australia situated in the Indian Ocean. Millions of animals and plant could be found here. 100 million red crabs migrate at this place every year to live their life into the sea, one of which is the bright red carapaces. Hence, this park is called as the home of many different kinds of species.

You can experience birds that you have never seen in your life before like Abbott’s Booby and Frigatebird. This wide variety of species turns the island into an important place for scientific community.

The impact of phosphate mining was very severe during the early 1970s. Later in 1974 a governmental committee inspected the collision of mining and other activity and recommended that to set an area aside for conservation. According to their suggestions a series of measures was implemented. And hence, the Christmas Island National Park was established on 21 February 1980 under the conditions of the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1975.

To include most of the rainforest to its area, the island was expanded in the year 1986 and 1989 covering an area of about 85 Square Kilometres now. The island comprise of metamorphose. Out of 73 Kilometres, 46 Kilometre of shoreline could be found in the park limits. Rock pools are also created naturally that increased the glory of the island. The soil is too poor and tends to dehydrate at the time of dry season. It is due to the limestone that has been fractured and formed underground cave system. You could experience water filled caves and also dry caves at this place. The nearby waters of the island and the surface of the land are fertile.

You will definitely go crazy by watching the species. Apart from the red crabs that are migrated in a wide range, you can see reptiles which have six species, a neighbor of the park. The giant gecko, the blue-tailed skink, the foreshore skink and few more species of reptiles could be found.

Besides reptiles you can even take a glance at the mammals who are the native of the park. Mammals have three species. These are the Christmas Island Shrew, Christmas Island Pipistrelle and the Christmas Island Flying Fox. About the birds they are over 100 species. Few of them are vagrants, Great Cormorant, Lesser Frigatebird and much more that adds to the attraction of the park.

You can find 200 species of native flowering plant at the Christmas Island and a huge amount of rainforest that feeds them. On the park’s coast you won’t find any mangroves.

This park is actually managed by the Parks Australia. Parks Australia is the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. The park is protected as per the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

You have many options where you can spend your good time like the marine environment, shoreline platforms, beaches, sea cliff zone, rainforests and much more places. You can even make your adventure more powerful by diving into the water.

To feel relax and to have a shelter you will get plenty of options nearby the Christmas Island.

Marvel at the isthmus crammed with cherry-hued sandstone peaks, unadulterated and pasty sand at the coastlines, and turquoise water tenderly relinquished by nature to the Freycinet National park.

Avoid squandering your time by gaping at the exquisiteness of the Wineglass Bay when you could effortlessly bathe, whirl, fish, cruise or snorkel in the untainted, wistful beach. If you have never experience fainting, visit the Cape Tourville Lighthouse because the panorama might just do it to you. Honeymoon Bay is an ideal location for adventurers because of its unique surfing experience and sailing vistas. Touch or kiss the quagmire birds found wandering near Moulting lagoon or astonish at the sights of humpback whale that are actively migrating throughout the year. Know more about the lifestyle of the Frenchmen who discovered this heaven many centuries ago. After an arduous day around Freycinet, the flavor of scrumptious seafood and native, saccharine wine seems a perfect conclusion.

Five facades of an expedition through Freycinet:

1. Through the mirth of nature

If you consider yourself as a professional trekker, test your skills on the serrated crests of Hazards. At the summit, reward yourself with an impressive vista of Wineglass Bay, where the hazy cherry-hued peaks meet the elegant expanse of pasty sand and azure waves. While trekking, get glimpses of sea birds, wild plants from Tasmania, and ashen lagoon. To grab the pallid sand granules, slide down through the jade, vigorous woods. Relax on the sallow spread of Friendly Beach for few hours and grab a scenic aircraft to watch the miraculous arrangement of Freycinet Coast from the clouds. Spend noon hours cruising through the aquatic tour of Coles Bay or opt to wander in the backwoods of Bryan’s Beach.

2. Get Busy

Slither down the slopes of sandstone sea crags positioned in the Hazards and ascend the abrupt, crimson peaks known as Lassies Wall and Whitewater Wall. Hire a car and drive along the paved coasts of Bluestone Ba

y and Halt at Cape Tourville Lighthouse to witness the panorama of a lifetime. Spend some time fishing, dipping, and snorkeling at Friendly Beach and rest while others perform their pastime. Even adventurous is the 27-km trail of Hazard Ranges where you can walk, trek and relax. While walking through the tapered pathway of Wineglass bay lookout, capture some of the unique vistas in your camera. A night cruise on Honeymoon Bay or Wineglass Bay offers distinctive reflected shapes of moon in the gloomy water beneath.

3. Mammals on land and oceanic creatures

Sail along the gushes of Wineglass Bay to glimpse the comeliness of dolphins or rest on a yacht sailing through Great Oyster Bay and watch the movements of sea eagles with fair belly and outsized wings hovering near you. If you have something to eat, share it with the hefty gannets plunging across the bay. The quayside of Coles Bay is rich with spectacles of swift penguins, busy fishing throughout the day. You can watch the massive, migrating whale during the months of June to September. Don’t fret if you are here in January because the dolphins keep bounding the waves throughout the year. Try to grab a fish in a pre-nomadic style while swimming with hundreds of them in the ashen water of Coles Bay and Great Oyster bay. 20 percent of the million people visiting this place every year get a glimpse of the New Holland rare rodent found near the coasts of Friendly Beach. Walking through the tropical woods, try to have quick look at potoroos, possums, echidnas, and wallabies. Or move along the marshlands of Moulting Lagoon to witness the vulnerable pelicans and black swans.

4. Re-explore the explored

The affluent past of this terrain will entice you to explore the history even if it is a subject that doesn’t interest you. The aboriginal scorched shells can be found on the expanse of Richardson Beach that depicts the history of ancient tribes that wandered here in search of seafood and bird eggs near Big River and Great Oyster Bay. Learn the stories of ancient natives, whale catchers, and early Frenchmen while wandering through the immaculate beaches and isolated inlets. The East Coast of Tasmania can be known just by reading the names of the various vicinities. The name ‘Freycinet Peninsula’ was forenamed after the Frenchmen who traveled here many centuries ago, whereas Schouten Island was named by ancient Dutch pilots.

5. Munch and gulp

Drink and shop at the numerous wineries established in the unseen area of Freycinet peninsula. Some of the famous wines produced here include Riesling, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Carry any or all of them along with you while you halt at the comfy inn near the bays. Seek shelter in any of the cottages and sip wine overlooking at the muted waves of Great Oyster Bay. This placid and sun-drenched isthmus is known for its luscious lamb and beef, game mutton, unsullied seafood which includes scallops, crayfish, and saline oysters.

A day in Freycinet is a vacation enough to get you going for a year until you revisit this terrain enticed by panoramas of the peninsula.
